As we near the 2024 Bash I have been reflecting on how this journey began. It’s a story as most things in life are. I won’t bore you with the details here but let’s just say that I had been following the 2021 Bash with interest when that little voice you can’t quite silence was urging me saying “Just do it, you know you want to!”
Knowing Chris has an affinity for cars I lured him in with a 1987 XF Ford Falcon I found on marketplace. We got it for a steal once we mentioned we are going bashing in it to the owner, and when we got it home it became clear that this was definitely a Ghostbuster vehicle.
Toni and Snow then joined the team and 3 years later we have raised over $55,000 and it seems like a bit of a blur. We have met so many awesome bashers and the adventures we have had will be us for years to come.
Tonight, as I prepare to make up 516 lolly bags to give away to the kids at school stops, I have been reminded of all of the people that have helped us raise this money. 6 of my family will be joining around the dining table tonight packing these little bags just to bring some joy to the kids in the outback and that is just the tip of the iceberg!

It takes a village to fundraise for the Bash. Our team is like a little hub drawing people into our mission to give all kids a fair go. So here it comes, the thanks. And there are many so grab a cuppa and get comfy.
Our corporate sponsors are unreal, and we are very thankful to have their full support some of them for 3 three years running!

More than half of our fundraising has come from these generous businesses! Thank you!
Next to the people who have attended our fundraising events:- boat cruises, barefoot bowls, art workshops and sausage sizzles- thank you! We know you all have busy lives, so it is not lost on us that you put time and money aside to attend these events.
To every business who has donated raffles to these events- Thank you!
Arcanum Vita, Willow and Bailey, Bunnings, BCF Loganholme, Autobahn Loganholme, Sumico Photography, , Superbowl Chinese Restaurant and Noodle Bar, Lions Club, Amy Jay Personal Training, Crestmead Creative Cakes, Madelines Crystals, Jo Foster- Book packs, TFC, Trade Tools Geebung, Hamilton Hotel, Le Reve – Toni Sorbello, Eekas Hair & Beauty, Alice Zgrajewski (OMG that Rocky Road), Queensland Reds, Narraburra Farm, Ikea donation, Kat’s Crafted Corner, Hair designs by Lou, Kahunas, ProfessioNail – Hyperdome!!! To all of the hardworking staff and volunteers at Variety that makes these events possible – we love you! We know that so much goes on behind the scenes that we don’t even realise, but the result is a massive amount of funds being raised for kids who are sick, disadvantaged and living with disability.
To our friends and family that inevitably get roped into packing lolly bags, selling raffle tickets, housesitting or helping out with the car, you guys rock. Your support means the world to us and is a constant reminder that we are not doing this alone.
So, as you can see there have been literally hundreds of supporters behind Car 1987 – Aussie Ghostbusters! We are thankful for each and every one no matter what your contribution has been!
This year Chris and I are going solo on the bash and we are looking forward to bringing hope and smiles to the kids who really need it. On another note, we are curious as to how we will go just the two of us, at a guess I think we will enjoy having more space in the car, philosophical discussions about black holes, arguing about the navigation instructions and listening to many audiobooks and tunes!
Stay tuned for many blogs and posts throughout the Bash so you can see the fruits of your labour supporting Aussie Ghostbusters!
Till next time Tammy and Chris.
